JOHN BELL, 1949-2008

Detroit bassist John Paul Bell of Grosse Pointe Park succumbed
to
complications from diabetes on Friday, May 30. John was born in Greennock, Scotland, January 3, 1949 and emigrated to Detroit with his family at the age of seven. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict from 1969 to 1972 and was honorably discharged. John went on to play bass guitar in the Detroit rock band Sky Rock throughout the early 1970's. He later worked for Michigan Blue Cross/Blue Shield as a patient advocate for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife Haiki and daughter Jennifer. John was a close personal friend of the Campbell family for
many years and
his absence will be deeply mourned by all who knew him. |
